Mica band heaters are made of a mica core wound with resistance wire. Then the core is bent into a circular band. Before connecting the final outer sheath to complete the heater, connect the lead wires. Our Mica band heaters can be directly installed on the barrel heater without initial disassembly of the heater. Only one set of lead wires or terminals is required. Our mica bands are closely polished and assembled.

Install Mica Band heater onto a clean Surface.

Install clamp straps, and try your best to tighten the screws. For heaters with multiple straps, alternate tightening each strap – until it can no longer be tightened.

Installation Instructions

Tap around the heater with a rubber hammer to ensure that the heater is properly secured to the barrel.This measurement transmits the final consistency of the heater to the cylinder. Operators can make additional 1-2 turns on the clamp screw. Each screw should match the best torque value listed in the Clamp Strap Torque Specifications chart.

When installing the terminal lugs, tighten the top nut to 12 in-lbs and hold the bottom nut with a spanner to help tighten the top nut .

After the initial heating , it is recommended to tighten the clamping bands again.

Note: It must be re-tightened when the heaters are cool. If the heater is loose from normal operation and circulation, the strap can be re-tightened. Although frequent tightening is not suggested, it is recommended to check the tightness of the steel strap every three to four months.
